Our History

In 1982, SHINE's Founder, Carey Lewis, decided to host a talent convention for performers from her mother's modeling and finishing schools. This showcase would soon be called AMTC, the leading event of its kind in the world.

“It was a safe and cost-effective way for local talent to meet national agents in one time and one place—to see how far they could go without the travel and risk of trying to do it alone,” said Carey.

So began a 35-year run – with three generations of the same family to lead it. Young unknowns like Megan Fox, Mena Suvari, Matt Czuchry, Stephen 'Twitch' Boss, Chris Young and Evan Peters set the stage for today's rising stars.

AMTC, which became a 501c3 non-profit ministry, closed in early 2018. SHINE.us, LLC is a legacy company. It is legally separate, but carries the same vision of Making Good Bolder in film, fashion, music and theatre.

SUCCESS STORIES

They all started when...

Carey Lewis and her supermodel mother, Millie Lewis, decided to host their first talent convention in 1982: to introduce local performers to career-making VIP's in a safe place at a much lower cost than traveling around, knocking on doors that wouldn't open for beginners. This event would come to be known as AMTC, Actors Models & Talent for Christ, and it spanned 35 years (1982-2017). Collectively, the Directors of SHINE, LLC have discovered, prepared and launched countless success stories: Some in AMTC's early years and many after AMTC became faith-based. A few are highlighted below.
